Description
This course focuses on the unique Dine nature of the Navajo Nation Alchini Bi Beehaz’aanii (Children’s Code) and analyzes its strengths and weaknesses in light of the modern Monsters of substance abuse, neglect, abuse, and delinquency. Students will analyze Navajo Nation Supreme Court cases decided pursuant to ABBA and Dine Fundamental Law. A secondary focus will be on the Indian Child Welfare Act and its implementation within Navajo jurisprudence. Prerequisite: LAW-216. Offered: Fall.
