Welcome to Navajo Technical University (NTU)! Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning to continue your studies, I am glad you have chosen to learn with us at our Crownpoint campus, at our instructional sites in Chinle, Teec Nos Pos, Kirtland, and on the Zuni Nation, or through our growing selection of online courses or micro-credential courses.
Our people know what it means to persevere. The Long Walk and the return to our ancestral lands threatened the very existence of a people who had lived here for thousands of years. Still, our ancestors found the strength to again see the beauty of Tsoodził (Mount Taylor) as they came home from imprisonment, and they began building their lives and our tribal life anew. That same resilience lives on in our students today.
NTU is a special place. It is the largest tribal university in the United States, offering graduate programs (even a Ph.D. program in Diné Culture and Language Sustainability), baccalaureate degrees, associate degrees, certificates, and micro-credentials across a broad range of fields, from engineering and health-related programs to construction technology. Here you can prepare for a well-paying career in electrical engineering. You can develop the skills to become a creative writer or a filmmaker, or an automotive technician who uses electronic tools to diagnose and repair cars and trucks. You can also compete against students from other colleges and universities at the state, regional, and national levels, and add to NTU’s proud tradition of winning.
Many of our degree programs lead to internship opportunities and community hands-on projects that provide important benefits to Navajo and Zuni communities, while supporting your effort to find a high skill, high wage career. Our Advanced Manufacturing or Computer Science programs are among the most advanced in the southwest.
This General Catalog will be one of your most important resources. It describes the courses and programs that will guide you toward the certificate or degree you want to earn. I also urge you to take advantage of the advisors, counselors, and faculty who are here to help you succeed.
There is so much more I would like to share with you: state-of-the-art classroom equipment, excellent online learning tools, outstanding residential facilities for families and single students, our cafeteria, and a world-class faculty and staff. All of us at NTU are committed to providing the best programs and learning experience possible.
So, welcome to Navajo Technical University. Here, education is an experience, and endless possibility will help you build the future you are willing to work toward.
