Description

This course explores United States and indigenous constitutionalism. Specifically, we will examine oral and written expressions of individual rights and freedoms, citizenship/membership, government structures, and citizen-government relations and analyze the written constitutions of various sovereign Nations and Pueblos. The course will also analyze the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Navajo Nation Constitutional Feasibility and Government Reform Project. Prerequisites: CJUS-1110 and BUSA-2420. Offered: Spring.
